Challenge #94 The Goa'uld
Note: It's a double one..200 words..( I think Plant Care 101 one was a freak accident..lol)
Pain…intense, burning flashes; punctuated by the mocking laugh of a Goa’uld system lord. Then with a bright flash she was suddenly running down a corridor, heart and lungs feeling as if they were about to explode. Bursts of staff fire hit the walls driving her further along the tunnel, then a lucky shot hit her shoulder and the pain began anew.
Sam bolted upright, gasping for air; sweat poured from her face and her entire body was shaking from the intensity of the memory. Arms encircled her from behind, leaning back into them she sighed deeply.
“Was it another memory?” Janet asked as she cradled the shaking woman.
“A really bad one,” Sam mumbled as she burrowed deeper next to her lover’s side.
“Well...I’ve got you now.” Janet told her, “just try and fall back to sleep.”
Janet felt the nod of Sam’s head as it lay on her shoulder. ‘Would the remnants of Jolinar’s memories ever cease?’ she wondered. Stroking Sam’s back, she watched the shaking stop and her breathing settle to the more even pace of sleep.
Sam drifted off to sleep once more, the warmth of her lovers touch replacing painful memories with others much more pleasant.
