written for [livejournal.com profile] sinadino from two prompts actually, My OT3, a roadtrip and also a cabin or something to that effect...I was on a sugar rush when I started it...damn Halloween candy *g*.

The seeming endless roadway stretched into the night and the auburn haired doctor suppressed a yawn as she sat behind the wheel of her van. She had been driving for several hours now, not by choice but necessity. She glanced into the rearview mirror, looking over her shoulder at the mass of blankets in the back of the van. She could just make out the top of a shaggy mop of blonde hair and she knew there was a second head under the blankets as well but she couldn’t see it.

Smiling to herself she let her gaze fall back on the road. Taking a hand off the steering wheel she turned down the radio a little and the soft sounds of her two lover’s snores reached her ears; both swore they didn’t snore but Janet knew better and it amused her to pick on them about it at times. Chuckling softly she stretched her neck, trying to get a kink out. Driving after a long shift really hadn’t been what she planned, but with Sam and Vala just returning from a mission where the planet’s time cycles differed, it made her bear down and tackle the task. The two women were literally falling asleep on their feet during the post mission physicals but had insisted upon continuing with their weekend plans of a trip to the cabin for the three of them.

The stretching wasn’t working so she reached a hand up to knead at the stiff knot of muscle and let out a soft groan. Another hand joined hers and she jumped slightly, glancing up in the mirror to see blue eyes staring back at her. She let her hand come down to rest on the steering wheel again and Sam took over the task of working out the knot. “Hello, sleepyhead,” she said in a loving tone.

“Hi,” Sam returned with a half-hearted yawn as she kneaded the doctor’s neck. “You want me to drive?” she asked.

“Only if you’ve had enough sleep, sweetie,” Janet told her.

“Oh yeah, a short nap and I’m all better,” Sam replied.

A loud snore reverberated through the van and Janet suppressed a giggle. “See, I told you she snored and you do, too,” she remarked.

“Whatever,” Sam snorted. “Are you going to pull over so I can drive?”

“Okay, okay,” Janet said and eased off the gas, slowly pulling the van to the side of the road.

The van came to a stop and she put it in park. Scooting over into the passenger seat she watched as Sam maneuvered herself over the middle console and plopped down in the driver’s seat. The taller woman immediately banged her knees on the dash and giving Janet a look, reached down to let the seat slide back to its full extension length.

“Sorry,” Janet said with a chagrinned look.

Before Sam could comment back a sleepy voice spoke up from the backseat. “Are we there yet?”

Janet looked back to see Vala’s head peeking out from under the blanket. With a shake of her head the doctor replied, “No, but we will be soon. Sam is going to drive the rest of the way.”

The sleepy look disappeared as Vala sat up straight and her lips turned up in a grin as she proudly stated, “I can drive.”

Both Sam and Janet said, “No!” at the same time causing the dark haired alien to frown.

“I’ve been practicing,” she told them.

Janet reached back and tugged on one of the ponytails now uncovered and said, “Maybe on the way home.”

“During the daytime,” Sam added as she pulled back onto the highway.

Vala huffed and gave them a hurt look. She eyed the couple for a few seconds, realizing they weren’t going to change their minds and then just shrugged her shoulders. “Very well,” she said in a dejected tone, watching as Janet yawned widely.

With a tilt of her head she asked the doctor, “Why don’t you come lay back here with me?”

Sam took her eyes off the road for a second, glancing over at Janet. “Go ahead and lay down, I can get us there alright,” the blonde assured her.

Janet nodded her head, easing out of her seat the doctor leaned over, kissing Sam on the cheek she then slid over the middle console and into the back of the van with Vala, who had moved the blankets around some and held out her arms to the doctor.

“I can just stretch out next to you,” Janet told her.

“But what is more comfortable using me as a pillow or the seat?” Vala asked.

“You just want to try and talk me into letting you drive this weekend,” the doctor remarked as she tried to arrange a blanket.

Vala shrugged and shook her head, “Nope, just providing a comfortable resting spot for you, Jan,” she replied.

Raising an eyebrow at the comment the doctor moved closer to her dark haired lover until she lay with her back resting against Vala’s upper torso and the woman’s arms wrapped around her. Janet yawned as Vala pulled a blanket up over them and she looked up at her lover. “Are you going back to sleep?” she asked, her voice sounding tired now that she was out from behind the wheel.

Leaning down, Vala kissed the top of the doctor’s head, letting her fingers brush back a strand of hair over the smaller woman’s ear. “No, I’m wide awake now. I think I’ll keep Sam company; you get some sleep, dear,” she told the woman in her arms.

Janet hummed, “Um huh.” As the combination of her tiredness and the warmth from Vala’s body caused her eyes to drift close.

Waiting a few moments to make sure the doctor in her arms now slept, Vala cleared her throat softly and saw Sam’s eyes in the rearview mirror focus on her.

“What?” the blonde asked in a soft voice.

“Can I drive home?” Vala asked in the same soft tone.

Sam shook her head and laughing softly replied, “Maybe, if you play your cards right with Janet this weekend.”

Looking down at the woman in her arms Vala smiled; it seemed she had a special mission this weekend…sweet talk a petite doctor. She looked back up and caught Sam’s gaze again, winking at her blonde lover as she tightened her grip on Janet’s sleeping form.

Sam grinned to herself; it looked like it was Janet’s turn to be the center of attention this weekend. Reaching forward she turned the radio up some and sang softly to the song on the radio as they traveled down the highway.
