A loud squawking noise roused Vala out from under the covers, reaching a hand out she felt around on the bedside table and finally after fumbling with it several times picked up the radio, “Yes,“ she asked bringing it close to her mouth.

“Did you plan to sleep all day or are you going to get up and feed me?” Sam’s voice said over the radio.

“What time is it?” Vala asked suppressing a yawn as her brain tried to wake up.

“A little after ten,“ Sam replied, “I’m starving.”

“Oh no you’re not,” Vala remarked as she stretched her body, loosening the kinks from sleep and then sat up, throwing the covers back.

“Are you up yet?” the voice on the radio asked.

“Yes…give me minute to throw some clothes on,” Vala grumbled into the radio and then dropped it on the bed to stand up and stretch again.

“Clothes…Did you sleep naked with my woman?” Sam’s muffled voice asked with a hint of amusement.

Picking the radio up Vala clicked it to reply, “What if I did? You sent her in here or did you forget that?” she asked as she walked over to the dresser and pulled a pair of sweatpants out of the drawer.

All the reply she received was Sam’s laughter as she set the radio down to tug on the pants over her boy shorts and deciding to leave her tank top on walked towards the doorway, radio in hand. Strolling down the hallway and into the bedroom, she ran a hand through her sleep tousled hair and stopped to smile at the grinning woman in the bed, “What if I did sleep naked?” she asked.

“I think I’d be jealous Janet got to cuddle with you and I didn’t,” Sam replied, winking at her friend.

“Really?” Vala asked as she moved to sit on the end of the bed; ”Jealous huh?” she said with a grin and a tilt of her head, “and I had clothes on Sam,” she added.

Laughing softly Sam replied, “I know that or else Janet would have told me.”

Vala nodded at the comment and looked at the scattered notebooks on the bed along with the laptop perched in Sam’s lap, ”How long have you been up and what are you working on?” she asked, rising and moving to stand where she could look at the screen.

“A couple of hours and I’m catching up on mission reports; I was going to let you sleep a little longer but my stomach had other plans, I haven’t eaten anything since yesterday morning before we left for the base,” Sam told her as she typed a few lines.

“Oh reports…I never do those,” Vala said waving a hand towards the screen.

Sam gave her a sideways look, her eyebrows raised in surprise, ”Really?”

“Yep…I have a deal with Daniel, if I stay out of trouble he writes my reports,” the dark-haired woman replied.

Rolling her eyes Sam let out a sharp laugh which made Vala shrug her shoulders, “Okay so I write a few reports but I’m getting better, “ she admitted.

A loud rumbling noise came from Sam’s stomach, in the quiet room it was rather obvious, “See…told you I was hungry,” she said looking up at Vala.

“Okay…food, any requests,” Vala asked.

“Well I really want some scrambled eggs and toast but if that’s too hard for you I’ll settle for cereal,” Sam told her.

“No, I can fix that…no problem,” Vala said as she began walking towards the doorway, she stopped and turned back, “I suppose you want coffee too.”

“Oh yes please,” Sam replied with a grin.

“Alright…be back in awhile with you some breakfast…I have this if you need anything else,” she said holding the radio up, “or if I have any questions about the kitchen, “ Vala added with a grin.

“Just try not to burn the house down,” Sam told her.

“Oh no…I’d leave that up to you,” Vala said with a smirk as she moved out of the room rather quickly.

“You can not use that against me!” Sam yelled after the departing woman and she heard a loud laugh in response; chuckling to herself the blonde woman continued with her work while waiting on her food.

**********************************

Vala entered the kitchen, pausing for a moment she waved a finger back and forth, remembering the layout from last night then went to the cabinet next to the stove; opening it she took out a frying pan placing it on the stove. Turning to open the fridge she spotted two pill bottles sitting on the island countertop, moving to pick them up she saw they sat on a handwritten note.

Propping her elbows up on the countertop she looked down, reading the note…”Vala…here are Sam’s meds…one is the pain medication and the other is an antibiotic…make sure she takes the antibiotic after she eats…I will call in the grocery list from work and they will deliver them sometime this afternoon…look in the cookie jar on the counter and use the money to tip the delivery boy…no more than ten dollars please…call me if you have any problems with Sam and I’ll see the two of you sometime tonight…Janet.”

“She leaves little notes, how adorable,” Vala remarked as she went to open the fridge, removing the egg carton and butter she sat them on the countertop then located the utensils and a bowl. Cracking the eggs open as the pan heated; she paused then opened the fridge once more, grabbing the package of link sausage and some cheese. Adding a little butter to the frying pan, she put the sausages on to cook and opened the cabinet, grabbing the loaf of bread readied several slices for toasting along with fixing a fresh pot of coffee.

A loud noise came from the living room and she checked to make sure nothing would burn and then went to see what it was. Walking into the room she saw a small grey animal hanging from the screen covering the outside of the sliding door, making the most awful sounds; not knowing what to do she pulled the radio from where it was clipped to her pants and clicked it on, “Sam?” she said into it as she walked back into the kitchen to check on the food.

“Problems?” Sam’s voice asked.

“No…I’m fine but there is a small angry creature attached to the back door,” she told the woman.

“Small grey furball…yowling its head off?” Sam asked laughing, “It’s my cat.”

“So that’s a cat…and yes it’s making the most horrible noise,” Vala told her as she dished the sausage out onto a plate.

“That’s Einstein and he wants inside to eat,” Sam replied, “Let him in then feed him one of the cans of food from under the sink.”

“Alright,” she said into the radio and then set it on the counter, moving the pan off the heat she then walked back into the living room and opened the sliding door. The cat loosed it claws from the screen as she opened it, dropping to the ground and he ran in, curling around her ankles then dashed into the kitchen.

She followed him back into the kitchen and finding the food where Sam said it was, opened one of the cans then found a saucer, setting it on the floor for the cat to eat. When that was taken care of she turned her attention back to the eggs, placing the pan back on the heat and letting it warm back up. When it was ready she poured the beaten eggs into it, adding several slices of cheese and waited for the mixture to bubble; stirring the contents a few times she let it simmer as she placed bread into the toaster. Soon the eggs were done and she buttered the toast, dished the eggs out onto plates and added the sausage along with toast to them.

Picking up the radio she clicked it on, “Is there a tray or something I can use to bring this upstairs?” she asked Sam.

“Look in the pantry, there should be a tray hanging on the wall just inside the door,” Sam replied.

Finding the tray where Sam told her, she set the plates on it and added two cups of coffee, luckily she had paid attention to how Sam drank hers’ and fixed it accordingly, with slow easy steps she carried the tray out of the kitchen and upstairs. Walking into the bedroom she placed the tray on the end of the bed and handing Sam her cup of coffee then moved her own to the table on the other side of the bed, climbing onto the bed then moving the tray to rest across Sam’s lap; she scooted close until she too could eat from the tray.

“I hope you’re eating too because that’s way too much food for me,” Sam told her.

“Of course…I have to eat too and I thought you’d like the company,” Vala remarked.

“What happened to just eggs and toast?” Sam asked as she picked up one of the sausages and bit into it.

“Well…Janet is always getting onto you about eating healthy so I thought a balanced breakfast would be good…besides I wanted sausage, these little ones are delicious,” Vala replied, taking a bite of her own food.

Sam grinned as she sampled the eggs, ‘Oh yeah…she’ll fit in perfect around here,’ she thought and then hummed as she tasted the eggs, “This is good…thanks for cooking.”

“Your welcome…Janet would never forgive me if I let you starve,” Vala told her with a wink.

Sam smiled at the comment and the two women grew quiet as they continued with their breakfast. Before long the plates were emptied and Vala moved the tray off the bed then the two sat sipping their cooling coffee, “So…what do you want to do today?” Vala asked after she took a drink from her cup.

Sam started to say something and Vala interjected, “Besides getting out of the bed.”

The blonde growled and then shrugged, “I don’t know…probably work on my reports and then watch movies but I do want to take a shower too, I still feel like I have sand trapped in some places,“ Sam replied.

“A shower…you’ll need my help then,” Vala said with a crooked grin.

Sam saw the grin and chuckled, “Yes, I’ll need some help but it’s just a shower…no funny business,” she said shaking her fork at the grinning woman.

“I’ll behave…if you really want me too,“ Vala remarked, “Oh here, you’re supposed to take one of these after you eat,” she added, pulling the pill bottles out of her sweatpants pocket.

Sam took the bottles from her and opened one of them, popping one of the antibiotic pills into her mouth she washed it down with a drink of coffee, “I’ll wait until after my shower to take the pain meds,” she said handing the bottles back to Vala.

“So you want to go ahead and do that now?” Vala asked.

“Might as well get it over with, “ Sam told her.

“Well give me a little while to clean up the kitchen and then I’ll come back to help you,” Vala said as she moved off the bed and picked up the tray from the floor.

“I’ll be here waiting,” Sam said with a little wave to her friend as she walked out of the room.

**********************

While she waited for Vala to return Sam picked up her laptop, opening it back up she connected to the internet to browse through some of her favorite sites. As she was glancing over her new movie cue, the computer made a chiming noise and a new email appeared in her inbox. Clicking it open she read over it and then opened her instant messenger….

Wrmholgeek: Good Morning again…and yes I’ve eaten.

She waited a few seconds and a reply popped up in the box….

Ayre4cedoc: Just checking sweetie.

Wrmholgeek: She’s a good cook actually…I won’t starve while you’re gone.

Ayre4cedoc: Good to know. So what do you have planned for the day?

Wrmholgeek: Umm…shower and then just being lazy, catch up on reports, watch movies…boring stuff.

Ayre4cedoc: Shower? Please tell me you will be careful in there, I don’t want to have to patch you up when I come home.

Wrmholgeek: Just going to shower hun, I told you no fun stuff unless you were there too.

Arye4cedoc: Okay then…I have to go now. Oh…I called in the grocery list they should be there this afternoon.

Wrmholgeek: I’ll remind Vala…see you when you get home tonight…Bye hun.

Arye4cedoc: Bye sweetie…and behave!

Wrmholgeek: Always babe…always…now go.

Arye4cedoc: Somehow I don’t believe you still and okay I’m going…bye.

Sam grinned as Janet’s away message popped up, “I promised to behave but I don’t think Vala did,” she said softly as she shut down the computer and waited for the woman to return.

********************************

Vala walked into the bedroom to find Sam sitting on the edge of the bed, working on getting the air cast off of her leg, “A little help here, I think she fastened these things this way on purpose,” she grumbled, fighting with the buckles and ties.

“Probably did, knew it would slow you down,” Vala remarked as she knelt on the floor and began undoing the catches on the cast.

“What…are you taking her side now?” Sam asked with a small grin as Vala tried to undo a particularly stubborn tie.

“No…but she does have a point, the more you stay off of it the faster you will heal,” Vala said looking up at Sam.

“Yeah yeah,” Sam muttered and then breathed a sigh of relief when the cool air hit her leg as Vala slipped the cast from around it; “Do we need to change the dressing?” she asked, standing up to place the cast on the bed.

“After I shower…look in the bathroom under the sink, there should be some plastic wrap under there,” Sam told her as she pulled the scrub top over her head.

Vala stared at Sam’s bare chest for a few seconds and then shaking her head snapped back to reality and turned to go look under the sink. Sam grinned at her friend’s space out moment and with a soft chuckle waited for her to return.

“Is this it?” Vala asked returning to the bedroom.

“Yep…just hand it over and I’ll wrap my knee up nice and tight,” Sam said holding her hand out for the plastic wrap.

Handing it to her Vala stood and watched as Sam wrapped her knee several times with the plastic, soon she was satisfied with the fit and laying the roll on the bed grabbed the crutches from the floor and motioned for Vala to move, “Shower time,” she said, pulling herself up to balance on the crutches.

“Oh…okay, let me start the water,” Vala said rushing into the bathroom.

Sam followed behind her and maneuvered herself through the door, “Are you going to shower with your clothes on?” she asked, her voice carrying just the hint of amusement at the woman who stood trying to judge the temperature of the water without getting wet.

Vala backed out of the shower, banging her elbow on the door, “Ow…what? Oh yeah…you need help, one second,” she said and quickly stripped out of her clothing.

Ducking her head to hide the grin, “I think that was a new record for taking clothes off,” Sam remarked, “Could you help me out of these bottoms?”

“No problem,” Vala replied and moved around behind Sam to slowly pull the scrub bottoms off, carefully avoiding her knee and trying not to get distracted by the firm behind located not far from her face.

“Thanks,” Sam said as she stepped out of the pants, “okay…let me go in first and then you take the crutches when I get a grip on the rails.”

“Gotcha,” Vala said and watched as Sam carefully hobbled into the shower, gripping the rails located on the wall and door, she passed the crutches out to Vala who then leaned them up against the wall and stepped into the shower to stand behind Sam.

“How are we going to do this?“ Vala asked.

“I can balance on my good leg and you’ll have to do the dirty work,“ Sam replied with a smirk, knowing Vala couldn’t see her face.

Standing under the stream of water Sam saw Vala’s hand reach around her for the sponge and a few seconds later she felt it begin lightly running over her back, “You can use a little more pressure than that…I won’t break,” Sam told her.

“Sorry…I was just thinking we’ve been here before but the end result wasn’t us getting clean,” Vala said softly.

Sam tried to control the chuckle she wanted to let out, “No…it wasn’t…but there’s plenty of time for that later, that is if you want it,” she remarked.

Kneeling down Vala let the sponge trail over the back of Sam’s legs, “Do you mean me and you or me, you and Janet?” she asked looking up.

Sam turned slightly and looked down at the kneeling woman, “All three of us of course; think of Janet and I as a package deal, you can’t have one without the other, “ she told Vala with a smile.

Vala slipped under Sam’s outstretched arm until she stood facing her, blocking the water, “Package deal huh?” she asked running the sponge across Sam’s chest.

“Yup…all you have to do is ask,” Sam replied.

This earned her a raised eyebrow from Vala who didn’t say anything, instead she placed a soft kiss on Sam’s lips and when she pulled back spoke, “I will definitely take that deal under consideration.”

“Good…now as much fun as this could be do you mind moving a little faster? My good leg is getting tired,” Sam told her.

“Right…sorry,” Vala said quickly and trying to control the ideas running through her head, concentrated on getting Sam clean.

After a thorough sponging down along with a quick shampoo of her hair, Vala used the removable nozzle to rinse the soap from Sam’s body and then turning the water off she spoke, “Wait here and I’ll dry you off.”

“Not moving an inch,“ Sam replied through gritted teeth; as much fun as it had been to tease Vala with the shower she was beginning to think she should have taken at least one of the pain meds before starting this.

Vala returned quickly with a towel and began rubbing down the tone body before her, finishing she wrapped the towel around Sam then took another one from over her shoulder to dry her hair with. When that was done she grabbed the crutches and handed them to Sam, who took them from her and motioned for Vala to move then made her way out of the shower. Vala grabbed another towel and wrapped it around her body, following Sam into the bedroom where she had seated herself on the bed.

“I’ll take those pain meds now,“ she said holding out her hand, trying not to snap at her friend.

“Something tells me you should have taken them before your shower,” Vala remarked as she turned back around to retrieve the pills from her pants pocket. Walking back into the room with the pills and a cup of water from the bathroom she doled out two to Sam and watched as she took the medication then tossed them back with the water.

“Not a good idea, you would have had to hold me up then,“ Sam said smiling at the woman.

“Hmm…me…you…bodies held really close together under hot water…I think I could have handled it,” Vala returned.

“Yeah but it’s more fun when Janet is there too,” Sam replied.

“Ahh…you do have a good point there…now what do you want to wear?” Vala asked moving to the dresser.

“T-shirt and boxers will be fine,” Sam told her, pointing to the drawers where they could be found.

Vala returned with the asked for items and helping Sam to stand up, tugged the boxers up her long legs, tossing her the t-shirt she commented, “I think you can get that on while I put on some clothes.”

Sam stuck out her tongue at the departing woman, which earned her a towel to the head and she laughed loudly as she began unwrapping the plastic from her leg. Vala returned shortly, dressed in her BDU pants and a tank top, “Okay…we need to change the dressing now right?”

“Yes…look in the closet, there is a med kit over in the corner. It should have everything we need to do it,” Sam said pointing at the closet.

“Janet keeps a med kit up here…exactly how often do you get injured?” Vala asked as she located the bag and returned to sit on the floor next to Sam’s leg.

“Not as much as you would think,“ she said and Vala shot her a look, “okay…a little too often for Janet’s liking,” Sam admitted.

Vala unwrapped the knee, revealing the sutures underneath, “One would think you would be a little more careful what with a family waiting on you at home Sam,” she said softly.

“Well it’s not like I pin a big sign to my chest saying, shoot me or beat me up!” she said a little forcefully.

Vala let her head hang and she mumbled, ”I’m sorry.”

‘Ah crap…good work idiot!’ Sam thought as she looked down at her quiet friend; reaching a hand out to lift Vala’s head, she looked into misty blue eyes, “Hey…you shouldn’t be the one saying that, I’m the one who snapped. If you hadn’t shoved me out of the way who knows what could have happened, I’ll take the busted knee over being eaten alive any day,” Sam told her, wiping an escaping tear from Vala’s face.

“Eaten alive huh?” Vala said, a grin tugging at her lips.

Sam groaned, “Oh you know what I meant,” she said with a laugh, “Now let’s get this knee re-wrapped so I can prop it up.”

Vala gave her a smirk but continued with the dressing change as Sam gave her instructions. Once they finished she helped Sam to move back up into the bed and propping the knee up with the pillows she stood looking down at her friend, “So…what now?” she asked.

“Well, my meds are kicking in so I think I’ll take a little nap. You can wander around the house if you want, there’s a good selection of movies downstairs to pick from or books if you want to read,” Sam told her.

“I think I’ll read for awhile, I found a nice one on Cassie’s shelf last night,” Vala replied to her suggestion, “if you need me, just use the radio and I’ll be here in a flash,” she added with a grin.

“Go…read, I’m fine,” Sam told her, motioning for Vala to leave.

With a nod, the dark-haired woman turned and walked out of the bedroom leaving Sam to drift off to sleep.

********************************

It was past midnight when Janet finally made it home, she quietly let herself into the house and trying not to make any noise she walked towards the kitchen. A light popped on in the living room and Vala’s head appeared from over the back of the couch, “Hey,” she called out quietly to the doctor.

“You weren’t waiting on me were you?” Janet asked moving to stand behind the couch.

“Sam asked me too…I’m also supposed to make sure you eat before you go to bed,” Vala said looking up at the tired woman.

“I was on my way to the kitchen actually; want to join me for a snack?” Janet said as she loosened her tie and unbuttoned the top buttons of her uniform.

“Oh you don’t need a snack, I saved you a plate from dinner,” Vala replied as she stood up from the couch.

Following the dark-haired woman into the kitchen Janet turned on the lights and Vala moved to the microwave, punching a few buttons she began re-heating the doctor’s dinner. Janet slipped her shoes off and sat on one of the stools, watching as Vala fixed her something to drink, “So…how did today go?” she asked.

The microwave beeped and Vala removed the plate, setting it and a glass of tea before the doctor she shrugged, “Pretty good actually…she only snapped at me once.”

“Really?” Janet asked, raising her eyebrows in amazement at Vala’s comment.

“Oh yes…and that was because she waited to take her meds until after the shower,” Vala told her, sitting on the stool across from Janet, “but other than that she was a perfect patient.”

Janet took a bite from the pasta on the plate, mulling over what Vala had said as she chewed, “Well don’t let today fool you…she can get grumpy pretty damn fast and this pasta is great,” she told Vala.

“Thank you,“ Vala replied with a smile, “I used one of the cookbooks you told me about and you were right Sam is good with instructions, she walked me through the entire recipe over the radio; and I do believe I can handle Miss Grumpy when she makes an appearance,” she added and then asked, “How was your day?”

“Long…a team came back through the gate from the planet where Sam was injured, they weren’t so lucky though,” Janet said with a sigh, “If you hadn’t tackled Sam and Daniel I hate to think what would’ve happened to them if those creatures had gotten a hold of them; especially seeing what they are capable of now,“ Janet added, with a slight shudder.

“That bad huh?” Vala asked.

“Yes…putting back together mangled limbs is something I really don’t want to do again…in fact, I told General Landry it would be in everyone’s best interest not to send any more teams back there,” the doctor replied.

“You played the CMO card didn’t you?” Vala said with smile.

“Of course…when it comes to the different SG teams’ health and welfare I have to sometimes…even though I don’t do it often it’s nice to have the capability,” Janet said returning the smile and then she yawned.

“Okay…stop talking and finish your food, I’ll run you a bath while you do that,“ Vala told her.

“Use the downstairs bathroom, I don’t want to wake Sam up,” Janet said as she dug into her food.

Vala nodded and left to go do that. Janet watched her walk out of the kitchen, ‘She really is trying to make herself useful while she’s here and if she keeps it up we definitely won’t want her to leave, even if she doesn’t feel the same way we do,' Janet thought with a grin as she worked on finishing her food.

************************

Having started the water running Vala made her way upstairs and creeping into the bedroom, rummaged through a drawer she discovered to contain Janet’s sleepwear from earlier in the day. Selecting a few items she turned to leave when Sam’s sleepy voice spoke up, “Vala…is Jan home yet?”

“Now how did you know I wasn’t her?” Vala asked, standing with her hands on her hips.

“Too big,” Sam mumbled, “tell her to stop by before you get her to bed.”

“Like she wouldn’t do that on her own…now go back to sleep; do you need any more meds?” Vala asked as she began to leave.

“I’m good,“ Sam mumbled and Vala made her way out of the room and back downstairs to turn off the water.

She entered the bathroom where she found Janet undressing, “Oh…you beat me here, I went to get you something to sleep in and Sam stopped me on the way out,” Vala said, laying the sleepwear on the vanity counter.

“She’s still awake?” the doctor asked as she unzipped her skirt and let it fall to the floor.

“Well not exactly awake, I don’t think she sleeps well when you aren’t there Janet,” Vala told her, leaning against the vanity and watching as Janet removed her clothing.

Janet smiled at her, “I know that…but the medication should have knocked her out by now,” the doctor said.

Vala snapped back to reality and refocused her eyes on the wall behind Janet not her now nude form as she stepped into the hot water, “Well you said she was stubborn and besides I think she wants to be awake to tell you goodnight,” Vala replied.

“Oh I’ll check in on her before I go to bed,” Janet told her.

“Alright then…well I’m going to head upstairs, see you in a little while,” Vala said turning to leave the bathroom.

Janet watched her walk away rather quickly and smiling to herself sank down into the hot water, letting it relax her tired muscles, “It’s nice to know I can cause her to get all flustered and I so need to question Sam about what took place during that shower this morning,” she said out loud then began soaping up a sponge to wash away the antiseptic smell from her skin.

*******************

Walking softly into their bedroom the doctor walked around to her side and carefully climbed onto the bed, coming to a stop just above her sleeping partner. From the light coming through the window Janet saw Sam open her eyes and blink, “Hey you,” she said in a sleepy, groggy voice.

“Hello back,” Janet said and dipped her head down to kiss Sam, after a long slow kiss, she pulled back and saw the goofy grin on Sam’s face.

“Why aren’t you passed out?” she asked, knowing the answer coming.

“I palmed one of my pills…wanted to be somewhat awake when you made it home,” Sam replied.

“Uh huh…where is it?” Janet asked holding out her hand.

Sam reached under her pillow and pulled the pill out, placing it in her partner’s hand, ”You mad at me?” she asked, her voice slightly slurred from the effects of just one of the strong painkillers.

“No, I’m not mad sweetie but if you need them to sleep you should take them both when you’re supposed too,” Janet said reaching across Sam’s upper body to pick up the glass on the nightstand, “now…take it.”

“Yes, Ma’am,” Sam said, picking the pill up and taking the a sip from the glass, “You stay here until I go to sleep okay?”

“I will,” Janet told her, taking the glass and putting it back on the table. She let Sam rest her head against her smaller body and stroking her fingers through the blonde hair she asked, “So…what happened while you were in the shower this morning?”

Sam giggled, “Nothing…I promised after all.”

“Oh come on, you mean to tell me you didn’t poke at her at all?” Janet asked again.

“Okay…a little poke, I just told her it was possible to have what we had this past weekend all of the time. You know just planting the thought in her head a little more,” Sam replied.

“And…what did she say?” the doctor asked.

“Told her we came as a package deal and she said she would take the deal into consideration,” Sam said, stumbling over the last word as the fast acting painkiller began taking effect, “see I’m just making her think.”

Janet sighed, continuing to run her fingers through Sam’s hair, “Just as long as you leave it up to her Samantha.”

“Baby steps,” Sam mumbled as the movements of Janet‘s fingers against her head lulled her to sleep.

Janet chuckled and looked down at the head leaning against her chest, Sam’s eyes were closed and her breathing had steadied. Slipping out from under her partner, the doctor lay her head on the pillow and with a soft kiss to her temple, eased off of the bed.

She made her way out of the room and down the hall, entering Vala’s room she found her propped against the headboard, reading from a book, “Sam asleep?” the dark-haired woman asked, marking her spot and laying the book on the side table.

“Yes…she didn’t take all of her pain medication when you gave it to her,” Janet told her.

“I’m sorry,” Vala said to the doctor as she climbed in the bed.

“No…it’s not your fault, she’s sneaky like that though and now you know to watch for it,” Janet told her a she settled herself under the covers.

“Right…sneaky, I’ll be better prepared for that tomorrow night,” Vala said as she turned the light off and lay down beside Janet.

“Oh crap, I forgot my alarm clock,” Janet grumbled and began to sit up but Vala stopped her; “Nope, it’s on the dresser, already set; Sam had me move it in here this afternoon,” Vala told her.

Janet sank back onto the bed, “You two are going to spoil me aren’t you?”

Laughing softly Vala replied, “Well you’re the one having to work, might as well be taken care of when you come home,” she remarked.

Janet turned to move closer to Vala’s side and rising up on her elbow placed a kiss on the woman’s cheek, “Thank you,” she said softly.

“It’s nothing really…now get some sleep,” Vala replied but she couldn’t wipe the smile from her face as she felt Janet settle closer to her side, head on her shoulder as she slowly let sleep overtake her.
