elfcat255: (bored Sam)
So I felt like writing..but not starting anything long...so...I was chatting in IMs with [livejournal.com profile] caffinate_me and asked her to give me a random situation to put Sam and Janet in...this is what happened..*giggle*

She was in the kitchen when the loud crash from upstairs sounded, grabbing a banana from the counter Sam walked to stand at the bottom of the stairs as she peeled the fruit; taking a bite she cocked her head to the side listening while she chewed.

With each loud thump, she took another bite and then finally finishing the fruit she called out, “Do you need help with something?”

Another crash sounded and then she heard Janet reply, “No…I’m fine.”

Shrugging her shoulders at the reply Sam strolled back to the kitchen and tossed the banana peel in the trash then walked down the hallway to her office; if Janet really needed her help for something she would have told her. Sitting down behind her desk she pulled out the drawer and rummaged around until she found a new pack of pencils, opening them up she sharpened one and grabbing a notebook began making a list of chores she needed to work on around the house.

She could hear the sound of footsteps coming from the room above her, looking up she furrowed her brow and muttered aloud, “What in the world is she doing in Cassie’s room?”

Several more thumps and a few muffled curses where heard before she finally stood up and walked back to the stairway, she listened again as the curses grew louder and soon Janet appeared at the top of the stairs. The doctor stood there looking down at her partner with a disgruntled look on her face and then finally she spoke, “Where’s the cat?”

Sam gave her a confused look, “He’s outside…why?”

“Because I knocked over the gerbil’s cage and its loose upstairs…somewhere,” the doctor replied; huffing a breath out and making her bangs fly up as she reached a hand up to pinch the bridge of her nose.

“So all that noise I heard was you trying to catch the gerbil?” Sam asked, a grin forming on her face.

“Yes and wipe that grin off, we have to catch the damn thing before Cassie comes home,” she replied glaring at her partner.

Sam held up her hands, “Okay…sorry…but I asked if you needed help.”

“I thought I could catch it,” Janet said, crossing her arms, “Well are you just going to stand there or come help me?”

“Watch the stairs,” Sam said and disappeared.

Janet waited and soon Sam reappeared walking up the stairs, she carried a piece of ply board with her then used it to block off the top of the stairway, “Narrows down the search parameters,” she said grinning at the doctor.

“Smartass,” Janet grumbled but grinned back at the blonde and smacked her on the arm, “you take our bedroom and I’ll check my office.”

Sam gave her a little salute, “Yes ma’am,” and ducked away before Janet could smack her again.

After a half hour of moving furniture and looking under the bed four or five times, Sam walked out of the bedroom and down the hallway to Janet’s office where she found her partner on her hands and knees peering under a shelf, “Any luck?” she asked, leaning in the doorway.

Janet rose up from the floor, “No…found several pens but no little critter…you?”

Shaking her head Sam replied, “Nope…are you sure it’s still up here?”

Janet rubbed her hands across her face and sighed, “I didn’t think it went downstairs but I guess it did. Now we get to tear apart the rest of the house.”

“Meet you downstairs then,” Sam said and turned to start the search.

She walked past Cassie’s room and then stopped; leaning back she peered around the doorjamb and grinned. Janet walked out of her office and Sam waved at her to come there but placed a finger over her lips, signaling her partner to be quiet; Janet tiptoed closer and stuck her head around the doorjamb.

“Well I’ll be…” she whispered.

“Shhh,” Sam remarked as she crept into the room. Moving closer to the cage on the floor she darted forward and snapped the door shut, trapping the rodent back in its home.

“All that racket we made trying to find it must have drove it back to the only safe place the little thing knew,” Sam said picking the cage up and putting it back on the desk.

“It must have…that or it just wanted to make us go nuts trying to find it,” Janet commented as she walked into the room and up to the cage. “Bad gerbil,” she said shaking a finger at the pet.

Sam laughed at the doctor and then pulled her away from the cage, “Come on…you can help me put the bedroom back together now,” she said tugging Janet out of Cassie’s room and towards theirs’.

Janet groaned but followed behind her partner…after all it was her fault the furniture had to be moved.
