Sam sat on the bench watching the couple in front of her play tennis. When Janet suggested they meet to play a match she thought why not, it can’t be that hard to play tennis. After all, you just had to run back and forth hitting a ball…no problem.

She picked up the can of diet soda sitting beside her and took a sip. When Janet made the suggestion Sam was all for it; spending her downtime with the petite doctor was something she began looking forward to, especially since they both realized there was more to their relationship then just friendship.

So here she sat, waiting for Janet to show up; the doctor told Sam she might be a little late since she had to have her racket re-strung. Sam really didn’t understand the significance of that, not owning one of her own she borrowed one from Jack; why he had one since he didn’t play she had no clue, must be a guy thing she thought.

She picked up her soda once again and just as she took a drink heard a voice call out, “Hey Sam…sorry I’m late.”

Turning to face the voice she immediately coughed up the drink she was swallowing; wheezing and sputtering she grabbed the towel next to her and covered her face. She felt a hand rubbing her back as she slowly regained her composure.

“Oh…are you okay?” asked Janet as she continued to rub Sam’s back.

Sam moved the towel enough to peek at what had made her spew soda in the first place, she followed the shapely legs up to the short tennis skirt and then her eye traveled on up; glad she had the towel covering her face to cover the blush as she stared at Janet’s tight sweater encased chest.

“Umm…yeah,” she squeaked out, “just went down the wrong pipe.”

“Do you still want to play?” asked the doctor, her voice full of concern.

“Yeah sure, I’m fine…let’s play,” Sam replied, standing up from the bench.

The couple playing had left the court while this occurred leaving it free. Walking to opposite ends the two women readied themselves for the match.

“Do you want me to serve?” Janet called out.

“Go ahead,” Sam called back.

Sam watched as Janet bounced a tennis ball a couple of times and then tossed it in the air, bringing her racket up she hit the ball to Sam; it whizzed right past her before she could react.

“Umm…could you do that again, I was kind of distracted,” Sam called out.

‘Watch the ball not the body you idiot,’ she thought.

Janet bounced another ball and hit it to Sam who was ready this time and hit it back to the doctor, it went a little wild but Janet managed to get her racket on it; sending it back towards Sam who had to scramble to reach it. After a few more volleys, Sam let the ball whiz past her.

In that short amount of time Sam felt as if her lungs would burst, she thought she was in shape but man…tennis was rough; Janet wasn’t even breathing hard.

“Your turn to serve,” called out the doctor.

Sam pulled a ball from her pocket bouncing it a few times, ‘Okay how hard could this be? Throw it up and hit it to her…easy,' she thought.

Janet readied herself for the serve, crouching some and bouncing on her heels. That really was not good for Sam’s concentration as she caught sight of the bouncing woman as she brought the racket up to hit the ball, it swooshed past it and she stumbled forward, catching herself before she hit the ground.

“Are you okay?” Janet asked loudly.

“Yeah…there was a bee,” Sam replied making swatting motions with her racket.

Retrieving the ball Sam muttered,“Ball... watch the ball.”

Managing to serve the ball this time they exchanged several volleys, with Sam losing it once more after a rather hard hit by Janet.

Breathing hard Sam called out, “Can I take a time out?”

“Sure…go ahead,” Janet called back.

Sam walked over to the bench, picking up her towel she wiped the sweat from her face and picked up her now warm soda to take a drink.

“You’ve never played tennis before have you?” asked Janet walking up to stand beside her.

“What gave me away?” Sam replied smiling at the doctor.

“Well…your form is terrible and you’re breathing like a racehorse after the Derby,” remarked Janet.

“Busted,” Sam said grinning.

“Why didn’t you just tell me that when I asked you to play?” Janet asked giving her a confused look.

“Because I wanted to spend more time with you,” Sam said ducking her head to hide the blush she felt appearing.

“Well there are other things we can do besides running you ragged on a tennis court,” Janet said as she reached up, grasping Sam’s chin to pull her head up, “How about we stop this and go find something else to do?”

“Okay…what do you have in mind?” replied Sam.

“Oh I don’t know; I’m sure we can find something that agrees with the both of us,” commented Janet as she placed the racket on her shoulder and spun it, turning she began walking away with a bounce to her step, “Are you coming?”

Sam grabbed her towel and trailed after the doctor, “Hey Janet…has anyone ever told you how hot you look in that outfit?”

The doctor stopped, turning slightly she gave Sam an sexy grin, “Maybe.”

Sam hurried to catch up…tennis wasn’t that hard after all.
