Come my friends let us check in on the goldfish and their friends...it seems they have been up to no good...
“Minnie! What are you doing! Get away from that!” Terline yelled as she swam in front of her larger tank mate, blocking her.
“Hey! Terline! Move…I want that disc!” Minnie replied loudly as she tried to swim around the pale goldfish.
“Cleo! Quick...see if you can make it in the cage!” Minnie called out to the smaller fish as she kept Terline distracted.
Cleo swam past the two struggling fish, pausing for just a moment to line up her entrance, “I think I can make it,” she yelled. Steeling herself, she made a quick fishy prayer and darted into the opening, making it in with only having to wiggle just a little.
“Made it!” she hollered to Minnie.
Terline spun around to face the feeding cage, “Cleo! Come out of there right this minute!”
“Nope…you’ll have to come and get me,” the calico goldfish taunted.
“That food is not for the two of you!” Terline yelled at the two bad fish.
“Well then how come it tastes so good?“ Minnie asked between bites of algae disc as Cleo pushed more out the opening.
Terline sighed, disgusted with the actions of the two, “If it was meant for you to eat the human would just drop them in the tank, not try and keep it away from you.”
Just then Flash swam up, “Whataretheydoin? ThasformeanZip!” he babbled all flustered.
Zip swam up beside Terline, watching as the other two goldfish demolished the food disc, “Oh my…I overheard them planning but I didn’t think they would succeed.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” asked Terline.
“I didn’t think they could figure out how to get in; after all it took Flash and I two days to figure it out,” the white fish replied.
“Never underestimate Minnie; especially if food is involved,” groaned Terline.
Suddenly the tank cover lifted, Terline, Zip and Flash scattered as a hand entered the tank. Minnie was to involved with gobbling up food to notice as the hand moved to pick up the cage.
As the cage rose from the bottom, Cleo yelled, ”Minnie! Help!”
Minnie stopped when she heard the yell, not knowing what to do she quickly swam to the big rock where Terline floated in the largest hole.
“Terline! Do something!” she blurted out.
“Just calm down, I’m sure she’s in no danger,” replied Terline calmly.
Sure enough, Cleo soon re-entered the tank with a plop. Swimming over to the other fish she hovered close to Minnie, her little fins fluttering and gills pumping.
“Okay…bad idea…very bad idea,” she muttered, clinging to Minnie's side.
Terline just gave them a smug look, “I told you to stay away from the cage.”
The fish watched as the cage returned and the hand piled rocks all around it. Once the task was completed, the hand disappeared. After a few moments, all five fish swam over to check out the feeding cage. The human placed several rocks around the opening, Zip and Flash tested the new set up. Finding that they could fit quite easily through the opening still but when Cleo tried to enter again she was blocked, the opening was now to small for her.
“Drat!” she said pouting, “I can’t get in.”
Minnie sighed, “Oh well…at least we got to eat some of it.”
Terline saw Minnie give Cleo a nudge and a wink as they swam away; she thought to herself, “This isn’t over with yet…I’m going to have to keep an eye on those two.”
