AN: as usual..when I ignore her..she comes back with a vengance!..heh...see fluff makes her mad...*tsk tsk*..long chapter..over 2500 words!..yay!
Entering the elevator, they stood side by side; Teal’c kept his arm close to his body. She glanced at his face noticing the stoic expression never wavered except for an occasional facial tick. One would never know he just suffered an injury that would have most normal men in agony. She began to speak then stopped, realizing another apology would only make her seem weak to him; settling instead to stand quietly. When the doors opened, she followed as he walked towards the infirmary.
Reaching their destination, they entered to find the main room empty. The replicator glanced around, focusing on the corner where Sam‘s bed was…it was empty. She turned towards the office, listening closely she picked up the sound of two hearts, beating in slow rhythm together.
She turned to face Teal’c, “You wait here and I shall locate the doctor.”
Walking to Janet’s office she found the door closed; she began to knock then changed her mind, opening it slowly she entered to the sight of the doctor and Sam spooned together on the couch. Sam’s arm lay across the doctor’s waist, keeping Janet tucked close to her. Smiling she walked over and choosing to wake Sam first, grasped her shoulder, shaking gently. She stood up watching as the woman slowly awakened and became aware of her surroundings.
A still groggy Sam looked up to see her double beside the couch, “Hey,” she whispered not wanting to wake her partner.
“I regret waking you but the doctor’s presence is required outside,” the double stated.
This made Sam wake up immediately, “What happened?”
“Nothing serious…but I believe I have broken Teal’c’s collarbone,” replied the replicator.
“What?” Sam shook Janet, who made a little whimpering noise, “Jan…Janet…honey wake up.”
“Five more minutes,” grumbled Janet.
“Sorry...but they need you out front; my twin broke Teal’c,” Sam whispered in her ear.
Janet’s eyes popped open at this, “What!” she said rising up; as she shifted on the couch her elbow caught Sam in the chest.
“Owww,” groaned Sam.
“Oh Sam…I’m so sorry,” she said quickly pulling up the scrub top and peeling back the dressing to make sure she hadn’t injured her partner further.
“Hey…I’m fine, but I think Teal’c needs your help more than I do right now,” Sam said as she slapped Janet’s hands away from her chest and pulled down her top.
The doctor growled at her partner then turned to the replicator, “What did she mean by you broke Teal’c?”
“I have injured him, it was accidental,” the double stated looking at the two women. She offered her hand to the doctor helping her to stand and then did the same for Sam.
Janet straightened her clothing and picked up her lab coat off the desk, “What did you do?” she asked the double.
“I engaged in a un armed combat exercise with some others,” seeing Sam about to speak she added, “I gained permission from the instructor and Teal’c first.”
Sam nodded, “How did Teal’c play into this?”
“We can discuss the how and why later, I need to go check on him,” Janet told the two.
As she began walking out of her office she stopped and turned, catching Sam taking a few steps toward her, “You in that chair…now and straight to your bed,” the doctor scolded, “and you push her there,” she said pointing at the double and then continued out the door.
Sam sighed but sat down in the wheelchair, “To my bed James,” she said looking up at her twin who gave her a confused look.
“Just push, I’ll explain later,” Sam said grinning.
They rolled out into the infirmary and found Janet giving Teal’c a stern lecture. Sam grabbed the wheels stopping her forward motion to watch as Janet worked.
“What were you thinking Teal’c? Sam told me how strong she is; she can pull trinium like taffy,” Janet told the stoic warrior as she felt around the injury.
“I believed I could make an adequate opponent for her,” the Jaffa replied.
“Well I think you’re lucky all that happened was a broken collarbone and a dislocated shoulder; she could have taken your arm off,” remarked Janet, “I want to get some x-rays to make sure the break is clean and there’s no tendon damage to your shoulder before I put it back in place. Wait here and I’ll get everything set up,” turning she found Sam and her double watching, “Didn’t I tell you to do something?”
Sam sighed, “Yes… on my way there.”
Janet pointed at the bed and mouthed ‘Now’ then walked away to set up the x-ray machine, leaving the trio alone.
Sam looked at Teal’c then glanced up at her double standing beside the chair, “Smooth move you two. What brought about this little incident?” she asked glancing back and forth between the two silent individuals.
The two stared at each other, the replicator raised an eyebrow and Teal’c inclined his head to her, “I suggested the students would benefit from trying to overcome a stronger opponent and Teal’c agreed,” the double told Sam.
“You fought the whole class?” a stunned Sam asked.
“I caused no major damage to them,” the replicator replied with a small grin.
Before Sam could make another comment, she heard the sound of running footsteps, turning the chair in time to see Jack skid to a stop in the doorway, breathing heavily.
“What in the hell is going on? I just got a call from the gym saying Teal’c was injured in a fight,” he blurted out and then tried to get his breathing under control.
“I am fine O’Neill…it is not serious,” Teal’c said to his friend.
“Okay…you’re fine, but that still doesn’t tell me what happened,” Jack said as he walked into the room to stand next to Teal’c, “I’m waiting people…explain.”
“I was attempting to take down Colonel Carter’s double; she misjudged the force needed to stop me,” Teal’c stated calmly.
“Take down? What did it do to make you try that?” the general asked, eyeing the replicator.
“We were sparring General O’Neill,” the replicator answered.
“Sparring!” said Jack rather loudly looking at Teal’c for conformation, the Jaffa just nodded, “and just whose idea was that?”
Both remained quiet, not answering as Jack began pacing back and forth, “This is just great; my two best people put out of commission by the same thing. As if I don’t have enough on my hands with Ba’al and Anubis breathing down our necks,” he muttered.
“Ba’al?” asked Sam, giving the pacing man a confused look.
“Oh yeah…just had a little chat with him; seems Anubis is searching for some all powerful weapon and he’s all ‘ants in his pants‘ about it,” Jack told her, waving his hands about.
Before Sam could question him further Janet came back; she was looking down at a chart in her hands and did not notice the general, “Alright Teal’c let’s get some pictures of that arm,” the doctor said as she walked in, looking up from the chart she saw Sam still in the chair and a rather flustered Jack still pacing.
“Why aren’t you in bed and what are you pacing for?” she asked eyeing them both.
Before Sam could answer Jack spoke up, “Oh everything’s just going downhill and it all started when that thing showed up!” Jack said loudly pointing at the replicator, who stood quietly observing them all.
“Sir!” Sam yelled, “She is not responsible for the problems with Ba’al and Anubis, so don’t go pointing fingers!”
“No but it has robbed me of you two!” he yelled back.
“Quiet!” the voice of the doctor broke off any further argument and drew their attention to her, “I suggest you leave this for another time and place, my infirmary is no place for a yelling match. Now…Sam…bed; you…out until you have calmed down,“ she told the General.
“But…” started Jack.
“No buts…I have work to do and as CMO I can overrule any order you make, especially when it comes to the well being of my patients and right now they belong to me,” Janet said sternly.
Jack glared at the doctor who stood two feet away from him, arms crossed and foot tapping with a determined look on her face. Throwing his hands up in the air he made a frustrated noise, “Fine…but I need to know how soon they can return to light duty.”
“I’ll be sure to send you my reports as soon as I finish with Teal’c,” Janet replied calmly.
Jack just nodded then with a final glare at the replicator he stomped out of the infirmary, leaving the doctor to her work.
Janet watched as he stomped off then focused her attention on her stubborn partner. Sam smiled then looked up at the replicator, “I believe we were headed to my bed.”
“Yes…there is no need to cause further stress upon the doctor, she has work to do,” said the double as she pushed the chair over to Sam’s bed and helped her into it.
Sam waved from her bed, “See…in bed now…happy?”
Janet just shook her head and turned to Teal’c, “Follow me and we’ll see how much damage was done.”
“Very well Dr. Fraiser,” he said, trailing behind the doctor as they left the room.
Sam watched as they left the room, sighing loudly she lay back against the pillow. This new problem of Ba’al on top of the threat from Anubis and the replicators was going to be a tough one to solve she thought, closing her eyes she sighed again.
“I should leave you to rest,” her double said.
“No…I’m really not tired. You can stay and keep me company; tell me how your tour went,” asked Sam.
The replicator began telling her of touring the scientific labs and of her visit to the commissary. Sam laughed when she told her about the startled airman. Finally, the double told of the combat exercise and the trouncing she gave to the students, Sam especially got a kick out of how she showed up Williams, she had never liked that man. Ending with the injuring of Teal’c the double waited to hear what Sam had to say about it all.
“Well I think you handled yourself fairly well; the sparring just proves that my program is working fine. Teal’c’s injury was just an accident but you have to watch your strength when dealing with humans,” remarked Sam.
“He seems to accept that I did not mean to hurt him; although I still think he does not trust me,” the replicator said sounding a little upset.
“You have to understand…Teal’c believes that in all trust there is always the possibility of betrayal; with his past history, it took him a long time to put his trust in anyone even us,” Sam told her double.
“I did not know this…perhaps that was one of the memories I lost,” the double said.
Sam lay there for a second then she sat up, looking at the replicator, “I want to apologize for Jack’s outburst, he had no right to make those accusations toward you,” she said softly.
“But he spoke the truth; if I had not injured you both he would have your help with the current problem,” the double replied.
“That’s still no excuse for his behavior, we know you didn’t mean to hurt us,” replied Sam, laying back down she stared up at the ceiling.
The replicator watched the woman laying before her, perhaps this was the perfect opportunity to discuss her original purpose with her twin. She thought just maybe by offering to help with the current situation Sam and Janet would return the small favor she was prepared to ask of them in exchange for her help.
Just as she was about to speak Janet returned with Teal’c in tow. The doctor carried his films in her hand and walked over to place them on the light board close to Sam’s bed.
“Good…you’re still here,” she said glancing over at the replicator and making a come here motion with her hand.
“You require something from me?” the double asked.
“Well you did a good job of breaking his collarbone, nice and clean; I won’t have to put any pins in and there’s no tendon damage to his shoulder. I am going to need your help putting it back in though; it’s just Beth and I here for right now. I’m sure we could pull it back in but he’s refusing a sedative or a painkiller and it would take me a while to get it back in place. So I thought since you did the damage you could help fix it,” Janet said to the double.
“I will assist you in this if Teal’c allows it,” replied the replicator.
Janet looked to the man beside her, he nodded his head in agreement and they walked over to an empty bed, before she followed the two Janet paused at the end of Sam's bed, "Would you get some rest please; you've done way to much today as it is," she admonished her partner.
"Okay...I'll take a nap," replied Sam, blowing Janet a kiss, grinning she then made shooing motions with her hand.
Janet walked over to stand beside the Jaffa,“Now Teal’c are you sure about not wanting a painkiller, this is going to cause your broken bones to grate against one another when she pulls,” the doctor told him.
“I am certain Dr. Fraiser; I am prepared for the pain,” he assured her.
“Alright then,” Janet said as she took the sheet Beth held out to her, wrapping it around Teal’c’s waist she instructed the replicator to grasp his arm at the wrist and elbow, raising it up until it was extended; then she and Beth grasped a hold of the sheet, bracing themselves.
“Okay…we’re ready,” she said to the double, “Pull slightly upwards, rotating the wrist and elbow; you should be able to feel it starting to slip.”
The replicator nodded and when she saw that the two women were ready followed Janet’s instructions; she felt the shoulder joint slide into place and as it did Teal’c gave a small grunt.
Janet let go of the sheet and walked around to asses the repair, “Can you move it now Teal’c?” she asked.
He raised his arm slightly, rolling the shoulder slowly, “Yes…it is repaired.”
“Alright, Beth will fit you for a sling to keep your arm immobile. I want it left on until further notice…understand?” she said giving him her best doctor’s glare.
“I shall follow your instructions,” Teal’c told the doctor.
Janet turned to the replicator, “Thank you for helping.”
“It was the least I could do,” replied the double.
Janet watched as her head nurse fitted the sling on Teal’c making sure the arm was stabilized; the doctor then double checked everything making sure he was comfortable with it.
“Well I have reports to finish; I suggest you go rest Teal‘c, I know better than to ask you to stay here so your quarters will do just fine,” she told the Jaffa who nodded and eased off the bed.
“Thank you for your assistance,” he told the replicator before leaving. When she nodded in response, he continued out the door.
Janet walked away, heading for her office leaving the replicator standing next to the empty bed. She walked back over to sit next to Sam who had fallen asleep while she was gone. It seemed her question would have to wait until the woman awakened. Closing her eyes, the replicator began her own resting period.
