Janet stood there growing a little impatient with the two in front of her. The replicator she could understand not receiving an answer from but Teal’c knew better than to make her wait.

“Well Teal’c…what happened?” she asked the silent Jaffa.

“Dr. Fraiser it appeared that the replicator received a transmission from her brethren then stabbed Colonel Carter in the chest,” he remarked.

Janet glanced down at the double who had pulled off her mask and was still staring at her blood covered hand; the look on her face was so like that of her wounded partner that Janet couldn’t help but feel sympathy for her.

“Did Sam say anything to you before passing out?” she asked looking back to Teal’c.

“She believed the replicator did not mean to harm her; that was all she said,” Teal’c informed the doctor.

“Well if Sam believed that then I can too. She didn’t try anything else the entire time you watched her did she?” asked Janet.

“No…she was quite complacent; helping Colonel Carter to re-program the disrupter to destroy Fifth,” Teal’c told her.

Janet nodded, she was beginning to form a plan if Teal’c would go along with it; it just might help them to better understand the replicator.

“Teal’c... why don’t you get a couple of SFs to watch over her. Then you can go inform the General about the surgery’s success. While you do that I’ll take our guest and get her cleaned up,” she said to him in that no nonsense doctors tone.

When Janet said she would take her to clean up the replicator snapped out of her stare and focusing on the doctor thought, 'What did this mean? Was the doctor going to trust her only on the word of her fallen lover?' Focusing her attention on the man beside her she spoke, “I shall be on my best behavior, if this is allowed Teal’c.”

“See…she promises to behave,” Janet said smiling at the double.

“It is still not wise Dr. Fraiser. What if she receives another transmission?” questioned Teal’c.

The replicator stood up, removing the scrub gown she commented, “I believe I am at a far enough distance from the others; they should not be able to communicate with me, in fact I can feel nothing of their presence.”

“Well there you go Teal’c…she can‘t even detect them. Now go tell the General we’ll be along shortly, after we get her cleaned up and I check on Sam,” Janet said, using that tone again.

Teal’c looked as if he were going to argue with her then changed his mind. Walking out the door, he spoke to the two SFs standing there telling them not to let the replicator out of their sight. They nodded at his orders and followed him back into the surgical theater.

“These two have orders not to let the replicator out of their sight; please allow them to carry these orders out Dr Fraiser. I shall return to relieve them after reporting to General O’Neill,” stated Teal’c.

Janet watched as he walked out the door; walking over to the replicator she grasped her by the elbow, “Come with me and we’ll get the blood washed off,” she told the double.

The double nodded and allowed the doctor to lead her into the prep room over to the large sink. Janet handed her a towel and some soap, allowing the double to wash off Sam’s blood. As she watched the replicator wash up, Janet took a deep breath and thought, ‘Am I going about this the right way? If Sam trusted the replicator to help her with the disruptor, surely she could be trusted. Even though she’d stabbed her partner, there still had to be a reason Sam told Teal’c she believed it wasn’t on purpose.’ Janet shook her head, clearing her thoughts she realized the replicator finished washing and was now standing over the sink staring at her hands again.

“It never seems to wash off does it?” commented Janet, handing a dry towel to the double.

“It is disconcerting that I had the blood of the one who I resemble on my hands,” the replicator replied looking up from the sink to gaze at Janet.

“Well how did you think it felt for me? Knowing that the one who caused the injury stood next to me and even helped me while I had my hands covered in that same blood?” Janet said matter-of-factly.

Lowering her gaze the double replied, “It must have been excruciating.”

Janet sighed, “It was, but I’m a doctor first. I assume since you have Sam’s memories you know about our relationship?”

“Yes…I told Sam she did not have to worry: I would keep it to myself,” the double told the doctor.

“Well…Sam told Teal’c she believes you didn’t hurt her on purpose and until you do something that ruins that belief, I’ll give you my trust as well. Does that sound like a fair deal?” asked Janet.

“Yes…it is only fair. I shall do my best to keep that trust,” the double replied.

“Good…now let’s get you some clean clothes and then we’ll go check on Sam,” Janet remarked as she led the replicator out of the room.

The SFs followed as they walked down the corridor to Sam’s on base quarters. Janet decided to give the replicator some of Sam’s civilian clothing to wear instead of a standard blue jumpsuit. That way with the real Sam being in the infirmary it would be easier to find the double if the need arose. They entered the quarters followed by one of the airmen. Janet began sorting through the dresser drawers, selecting clothing for the double. After finding enough to suit the double’s needs, they left to travel to the showers. When the airmen made to follow them into the shower room Janet stopped them with a raised hand.

“Now gentlemen…can’t we have a little privacy in here, please?” She asked them.

“Sorry M’am…Teal’c said not to let her out of our sight. We’re just following orders,” replied a grinning SF.

Janet went into full Air Force mode at that grin, “Give me your sidearm Corporal,” she ordered.

“M’am?” the confused corporal asked.

“You heard me…give me your sidearm. I’ll guard her while she’s in the shower; if you think I’m going to let you in there after that grin you just flashed you’re crazy. She’s Colonel Carter’s exact duplicate, I am not about to let you fuel the fantasies of just about every airman on this base. Now give me your gun and that is a direct order; or did you forget that I’m a Colonel as well as the CMO of this base?“ Janet growled out as she held out a hand for his weapon.

The corporal gulped, “Yes m’am… sorry m’am, we’ll be right outside if you need us.”

Janet smiled at the distressed airman, “Thank you,” she said, taking the sidearm from him.

With that taken care of Janet motioned for the replicator to enter the shower room. Following her in Janet thought, “Now, let’s see how exact a copy she really is.”
