The force shield light crackled, the final door closed and my robotic twin turned around; she gave me an odd look then crumpled to the floor. I rushed over to where she lay and unable to speak, watched as she blinked a few times then closed her eyes to lie still on the floor.
With the mission complete SG-1 returned home where after their post mission physicals Janet waited for Sam so they could ride home together. After a half hour and still no sign the doctor went in search; she found Sam sitting in the locker room, staring at the floor.
“Hey,” the doctor said softly walking up to sit next to the blonde, “Are you okay?”
“I watched myself die today,” was the reply she received, “she was only a machine but I couldn‘t help but think what if that had really been me.”
Unable to think of anything to say Janet did the only thing she could, wrapping an arm around Sam’s shoulders she pulled her close and held her tight while the blonde cried; tears rolling down her cheeks as she tried to come to terms with fears brought to light by her robotic twin’s death.
