After a morning spent in the bed, the three women lazed around Sam and Janet’s house, playing, talking and just learning more about each other. The day slowly turned to night and Janet insisted Vala should spend the night again. The three agreed there had been enough intimate moments between them, especially since Sam and Vala had to go off world in the morning and needed their rest, so they piled into the bed with Janet snuggled between the two taller women and soon drifted off to sleep.
The blaring of the alarm clock woke Janet the next morning but trapped by the weight of the two bodies against her own, their arms and legs thrown haphazardly across her; she couldn‘t reach the offending object. The doctor slowly untangled herself from their grip and slid to the foot of the bed, she watched as Sam felt around a few seconds and then latched onto Vala, tugging her closer and the pair snuggled together like two kittens in a pile. Shaking her head and smiling at the two, she moved around to the bedside table, cutting the alarm off and grabbing her robe from the chair then slipping it on walked towards the bathroom.
The doctor flipped on the light and closed the door behind her, leaning against it for a moment she sighed, “I have a weird feeling we’ve started something here,” she said to herself.
Pushing herself away from the door, she went about her morning routine, getting ready for work. After a quick shower, she stood wrapped in a towel in front of the mirror, sighing she surveyed the handiwork left by the two women, “They so need to control their vampire tendencies,” she muttered, checking out the many marks scattered across her shoulders and neck.
Reaching into a drawer in vanity, she pulled out her make-up and began working on toning down some of the more mottled marks. When satisfied with her efforts she left the bathroom, walking softly past the two sleeping forms still huddled together in the bed then made her way downstairs to start some coffee and breakfast for the three of them.

Sam’s nose twitched slightly as the smell of brewing coffee reached her senses, she untangled herself from Vala’s grip and rolled onto her back, stretching her long frame. Finally opening her eyes she turned her head to meet the brown ones now open and staring at her, “Morning,“ she said, her voice still scratchy from sleep.
Smiling at her friend, Vala stretched lazily and returned the greeting her voice sounding even raspier than usual, “Good Morning,” she raised her head then looked around the room, “Where’s Janet?” she asked.
“She’s already up…has been for awhile actually,” Sam replied, sitting up and running a hand through her sleep tousled hair.
“How do you know that?” The dark-haired woman asked as she rolled over and propped up on her elbows.
Sam smiled, “I always know when she leaves the bed; I just don’t let her know it,” she replied, “If she knew that woke me up I’d have to get up at the crack of dawn like she does everyday.”
“Ahh…sneaky,” Vala remarked with grin at the blonde-haired woman.
“Nah…not really; I just like to take advantage of all the sleep I can get, never know when I’ll be pulling an all-nighter. So…shower first or coffee?” Sam said to her.
Vala’s nose caught the scent of coffee drifting up from downstairs, “Oh coffee I think; yours and Daniel’s obsessive need for it seems to have rubbed off on me,” she said smiling.
Sam scooted off the bed and walked to the closet, she pulled out a robe and tossed it to her friend and then pulled her own out, slipping it on she started for the door, “Well…come on then,” she remarked waiting for Vala to move.
Standing up, Vala slipped the robe on, ran her fingers through her hair and walked towards her friend, “So…are you ever going to tell me what happened on the stairway with you two that made Janet make that comment the other night?” she asked grinning.
Sam returned the grin and began telling the story as they walked out of the room.
******************************
Having finished making breakfast and putting it in the oven to keep warm, Janet sat at the center island in the kitchen, sipping her third cup of coffee. Her mind was spinning as she thought over the ramifications of what she was about to suggest to the other two women when they woke.
“I told Sam this was just a case of friends fooling around and that everything would be fine; however I think the dynamics changed somehow. Vala seemed like a totally different person this weekend, she let us see a softer side to her, not one she lets out often enough I think. Could the feelings I‘m having just be from this weekend or is there something developing between the three of us? I’ll wait and talk it over with Sam first, see what she thinks before I say anything to Vala.’
The doctor’s musings stopped when she heard the sound of giggling as the two from upstairs came down the stairs, they walked into the kitchen with silly grins on their faces and both smiled at the doctor when they saw her sitting there.
“What are those smiles for and what was with all the giggling?” she asked the pair as they moved towards the coffee machine.
“Oh nothing,” Sam replied, stopping to give Janet a quick peck on the lips and then resuming her goal of reaching the coffee first.
Raising an eyebrow Janet looked at Vala who nodded, “Yes…nothing,” she replied also but could not wipe the smile from her face.
Janet crooked at finger at the dark-haired woman and she moved closer to the doctor until she stood before her then Janet tugged on the robe until Vala bent down so she could give her a little good morning kiss also. This made the smile on Vala’s face grow bigger as she turned back to face Sam, who held out a coffee cup to her. With a bounce in her step Vala moved to pour a cup of the dark liquid, she moved back to sit at the island next to the doctor and began spooning sugar into the drink.
Taking the stool opposite from Vala, Sam watched as she continued to add sugar to her coffee, “Umm…would you like some more coffee to go with your sugar?” she asked, raising her eyebrows at the absurd amount of sweetener Vala was adding.
“I never said I was used to the taste of coffee yet, just that yours and Daniel’s habits were rubbing off on me,” she replied in such a serious tone it made the other two women laugh.
Vala grinned and stirred her drink, raising it to her lips, she blew over the hot liquid and sipped, “Ahh…perfect,” she said smacking her lips together.
Both Sam and Janet looked at one another, smirking at the dark-haired woman’s actions and then Janet rose from her stool, moving over to the oven she began removing the breakfast she prepared for the three. Sam got up and went to the cabinet, grabbing some plates, she motioned for Vala to look in one of the island drawers for the silverware and after Janet divided the food up, they then settled down again to eat their food.
Janet glanced up occasionally, watching the two eat their food; Vala kept trying to snatch an extra pancake from Sam’s plate and her partner would foil the action by using her fork to block Vala‘s attempts. Quickly eating half of the pancake Sam finally slid her plate towards her friend and Vala stabbed the other half, picking it up then taking a bite out of the pancake hanging from her fork. Janet could not help the smile forming on her face as she ducked her head and concentrated on finishing her meal.
Raising from her stool the doctor carried her plate to the sink and then walked to stand behind her partner; she threaded her arms around Sam from behind and rested her chin on her shoulder, “Do you think you two can clean up the kitchen for me? I need to leave soon, I have two other sets of physicals to perform before you guys gate out,” she said in her partner‘s ear.
Sam turned her head, planting a kiss on the doctor’s cheek, “Yeah…you go get dressed,” she told her.
Hugging her partner the doctor moved away from her and left the room to finish getting ready for work, leaving the two other women to figure out who was going to do what in the clean up. Turning back around after watching her partner walk away Sam looked over at Vala who had a goofy smile on her face, ”What?” she asked.
Vala shrugged, ”I get this warm tingly feeling when I watch the two of you; it makes me happy,” she commented and then her face grew serious, “Thank you for this weekend, for letting me share in that feeling of love you two radiate.”
Sam rose from her stool and moved over to pull her friend into a hug, she kissed the dark-haired woman’s head as it lay on her shoulder, “You’re very welcome…in fact I’m sure Janet wouldn’t object to you spending more time with us; I believe we could become quite attached to you,” she told the woman in her arms.
Sniffling slightly Vala pulled back from the hug, “You don’t know how much that means to me,” she said softly.
“Hey now…no crying…you said you were happy, “Sam said, wiping a tear from her friend’s face.
“Oh they’re happy tears…believe me,” the dark-haired woman replied as she brought her hands up to wipe her cheeks off. “Why don’t you go take a shower, I’ll clean up down here, “she said to Sam.
“Are you sure?” asked Sam; Vala nodded and made a shooing motion with one hand, “Go,” she said.
Sam gave her another hug and then turned to walk out of the kitchen; Vala watched her friend walk away and sighed, shaking her head she then began gathering the dirty dishes.
*********************************
Sam entered the bedroom to find Janet standing in front of the closet, staring into space only half-dressed in her uniform slacks and bra; she walked to stand behind her partner and Janet leaned back as she wrapped her arms around the doctor’s body. Sam felt her take a deep breath and then let it out with a sigh, “What’s wrong?” she asked her partner.
Not answering right away, Janet turned in the arms that held her until she faced her partner; finally, she spoke in a soft tone, “Is it just me or did something happen between the three of us this weekend?”
“Well…lot’s of things happened,” Sam replied grinning.
Janet poked her in the ribs, “That’s not what I’m talking about and you know it Samantha,” she said seriously.
Sighing Sam rested her forehead against Janet’s, “If you mean it turned from just friends fooling around to something else then yes…I felt it too; I just didn’t want to say something until you did,” she told her partner and then she told Janet what happened after she left the kitchen.
Janet removed herself from Sam’s grasp and went to sit on the bed, “I’m so confused,” she said softly.
Moving to kneel before the doctor Sam took Janet’s hands in her own, “You’re not the only one who’s confused; I love you with all my being and I have no idea why I’m feeling this way towards her,” Sam told her looking up into misty brown eyes.
Janet cupped her partner’s chin, “I know you love me and you know I love you; we complete each other Sam, that’s what makes this so confusing. Are we just feeling sorry for her because she’s all alone or is there really something there?” the doctor said to the woman kneeling before her.
Sam rose to sit beside the doctor, still holding her hands, “Maybe we should think about this for a little while, see if what’s happening is for real, not just some mother hen complex we both have after this weekend,” she said.
“There is nothing mothering about the feelings I’m having Sam and it scares me,” Janet replied in a serious tone.
Pulling her partner closer to her Sam held her tight and spoke, “Okay maybe that was the wrong term to use…you know what I mean and it scares me too baby; we’ll just see what happens okay? After all you were the one who reminded me we were secure in our relationship before this whole thing happened, let‘s just think of this as another hurdle to get over.”
“You’re right…we shouldn’t worry, we’ll figure this out together,” Janet replied, pulling away from the hug she reached a hand up, cupping the back of Sam’s head and pulled her down until she could place a soft lingering kiss on her partner’s lips.
Pulling back from the kiss Sam smiled at her partner, “As much as I’d like to finish discussing this, we need to do it later; you’re going to be late and I need to take a shower before Vala finishes cleaning the kitchen,” she stated.
Janet glanced over at the clock beside the bed, “Oh crap…you’re right,” she said jumping up from the bed and moving back to the closet; she pulled a uniform top out and as she slipped it on, turned back to Sam, “We’ll talk about this more when you get back from off world…okay?”
“Yes…we will…don’t worry; we’ll figure something out,” she told the doctor as she stood up and began moving towards the bathroom.
***********************
Outside the doorway, Vala leaned against the wall, sighing she wiped the tears rolling down her cheeks away and walked softly back down the stairs; her thoughts in a whirl over the conversation she just inadvertently overheard.
*************************
Janet finished dressing and over the noise of the shower called out goodbye to her partner; she heard a garbled reply, walked out the bedroom door and down the stairs where she found Vala seated on the couch.
“I’m headed to the base, see you two during your physicals, “she told the woman as she pulled a jacket on, “I know Sam promised you a ride in on one of the bikes but please don’t encourage her to do anything stupid; she tends to show off when she has a passenger.”
Vala just nodded her head not saying anything; Janet stopped her hurried rush towards the door and looked over at the dark-haired woman, “Are you okay?” she asked, growing worried.
Snapping out of her blank stare Vala smiled at the doctor, “Oh…yes…I’m fine…I’ll see you at the base,” she replied.
Janet gave her an odd look but didn‘t push, “Okay…bye then,” she said opening the front door.
Vala gave her a little wave as Janet closed the door and then slumped back on the couch her thoughts still processing the information she had overheard.
‘It can’t be possible…can it? Were they actually talking about having feelings for me… me…who has to have the worst record with relationships in the known universe; this cannot be happening. Nevertheless, I meant what I said to Sam earlier; I really do get all warm and tingly inside when I see the two of them. Could that be some sort of sign? Could I be falling for the both of them even?’ So lost in her own thoughts Vala was, she did not hear Sam come down the stairs.
The tall blonde-haired woman moved to stand behind the couch and reached out her hands, grasping Vala by the shoulders and breaking her from the deep thoughts. “Hey…the shower’s all yours…I put you a change of clothes on the bed, just some old jeans and a sweatshirt but they should fit you okay,” she said, squeezing the shoulders beneath her hands.
Moving away from Sam’s grasp, Vala stood and moved around the couch, “Thanks…I’ll go get cleaned up and then we can head to the base,“ she said quickly, jogging up the stairs and leaving Sam to stare oddly at her as she left.
Shaking her head at the woman’s strange behavior Sam muttered, “Okay then…maybe this is where it all gets weird but I hope not; we still have a lot of things to figure out.” Still shaking her head she walked into the kitchen to search for snacks, it was her turn to bring the junk food to take with them off world.
*************************
Twenty minutes later Vala came back downstairs, her still damp hair pulled back in a ponytail and wearing her borrowed clothing. Sam stood up from the couch, tossing her the bag of snacks, ”I’m putting you in charge of those,” she said and then added, ”no eating them until we make camp later today though.”
Vala held up the large Ziploc bag full of snack treats and made a pouting face, “Can’t I have just one Twinkie?” she asked in a pleading tone.
Sam grinned at her friend, “Maybe…if you get dressed quick enough and don’t dilly dally around like you always do,” she told her.
“I will change in record time,” Vala said holding up two fingers, “scout’s honor,” she said and quickly raised a third finger in the proper salute.
Laughing, Sam walked past her and went to the closet for their jackets, taking them out she tossed Vala hers’ then pulled her own on, “Come on let’s go,” she said walking down the hallway to the garage door.
Pulling her own jacket on Vala half skipped half bounced her way down the hallway, all excited over getting to ride one of the motorcycles she had heard so much about; her thoughts from earlier shoved to the back of her mind. She walked through the doorway and caught the helmet Sam tossed her way as she stopped to stare at the three motorcycles before her.
“You have two choices…that one or that one,” Sam said pointing to the Daytona and then the Cruiser.
“Why not that one?” she asked pointing at the Indian.
“Because it only seats one person, that’s why,” Sam told her.
Switching the helmet to the hand that held the bag of snacks Vala tapped her chin with her free hand and quirked an eyebrow at the remark, “Only seats one huh?” she asked with a grin.
Blushing and ducking her head Sam cleared her throat, “I’m going to kill Daniel,” she muttered and then looking back up, “Okay two if you are very friendly,” she admitted.
Vala laughed loudly at the admission and then choice the Cruiser to ride. Sam breathed a sigh of relief and went to pull up the garage door, returning she leaned the large Triumph up and raised the kickstand then wheeled it out of the garage with Vala following her.
“Toss me the snacks and close the garage door, “she said throwing a leg over the bike.
Vala waited until she was seated and tossed her the bag then she turned, pulling the garage door back down. Whirling around she saw Sam place the snacks in a saddlebag attached to the side of the bike, she then pulled her helmet on and in a muffled voice spoke, “Well come on,” she said to Vala.
While she climbed on the back of the bike Sam turned the ignition on and the engine roared to life, letting the bike idle until it warmed up some she turned her head, looking sideways at Vala and tapped a finger on her helmet.
“Right…sorry,” Vala said loudly over the engine noise and tugged on her helmet. Sam then reached behind her and found one of Vala’s hands, tugging it forward to rest on her stomach; Vala brought the other hand around and held on tight, Sam revved the engine a little and they took off out of the driveway.
*****************************
The elevator doors opened onto Level twenty-two and the two women hurried towards the infirmary. They were still in their street clothes, helmets gripped in their hands along with the bag of snacks in one of Vala’s.
“If she asks we just lost track of time okay? For heaven’s sake do not tell her we were pulled over,“ Sam said in a hushed tone as they grew closer to their destination.
“Gotcha…after all it was my fault; she’d be just as mad at me as she would be with you,” Vala replied in the same hushed tone.
“Then we’re agreed…not a word,” Sam said as they reached the infirmary door just as Daniel walked out.
“Hey you two…running a little late today aren’t you?” he asked them.
“We lost track of time…Sam gave me ride on her motorcycle,” Vala said quickly as she ducked past him into the room.
Daniel gave Sam an odd look but she just smiled and said, “Gotta go…see you at the gate,” and she darted through the door, leaving him to just shrug and walk away.
Janet was just finishing Cameron’s check-up when she heard the voices of the two talking with Daniel. She glanced at her watch and made a tsking noise but finished writing on the chart, “Alright Colonel Mitchell, you’re cleared for this mission,” she told him.
“Thanks Doc,” he said, tugging his t-shirt down and walking out from behind the curtain to find his two late teammates waiting.
“Well now…look who decided to show up for work today,” he said to the two.
Vala held up her helmet and tossed it to him, “We lost track of time, “she said again and walked past him into the curtained off area.
Cam gave Sam an odd look and she just shrugged her shoulders, “It’s true…I got carried away showing her the bike,” she said taking the helmet away from him and walking towards Janet’s office.
He watched her walk away and just shook his head then left to get finished gearing up for their mission.
Sam returned, minus the two helmets and took a seat on an empty bed, waiting for it to be her turn for a physical. She didn’t have long to wait because Janet stuck her head out from behind the curtained area and said in a very stern voice,” Samantha Carter get in here right now.”
“Oh boy,” she muttered rising from the bed and dragging her feet as she moved towards the curtain.
She stuck her head through the curtain to see Vala with a sheepish look on her face and Janet standing with her arms crossed. The doctor pointed to her and then to the bed, “Sit…now,” she ordered.
Sam gave Vala a questioning look and she shrugged her shoulders slightly; taking a seat next to the dark-haired woman, she waited for Janet to speak.
“Why were the two of you late?” the doctor asked, “You had plenty of time to get here…explain please.”
Sam started to speak and Janet glared at her, ”The truth Sam…I saw the look you gave her and her response,” she remarked.
“It was my fault Janet,” Vala spoke up.
The glare switched to Vala and she shrunk back a little bit, ”I’m waiting,” the doctor said.
“Well…I wanted to see how fast the bike would go, so I urged her to show me; I didn’t know there would be a police car hiding behind a tree,” Vala said meekly.
“After I told you this morning not to encourage her?” the doctor asked.
“It was my fault too Janet, I shouldn’t have let her talk me into going that fast,” Sam said quickly.
Janet sighed and pinched her nose between her fingers, shaking her head she grumbled under her breath, “I have two teenagers on my hands now.”
Realizing what she just said she looked up quickly and cleared her throat, “Well…I really don’t have the time to stand here and fuss at the two of you; you need to get geared up. I’ll skip the check-ups this one time, I know the both of you are healthy but this isn’t over with…we will discuss it when you get back,” she told them.
Sam and Vala looked at each other, shrugging their shoulders they both turned back and said, “Yes ma’am,” at the same time, hopped up from the bed and then each planted a kiss on Janet’s cheeks. The doctor smiled in spite of her anger and motioned them to go change. Grinning at her the two women ducked out of the curtained area and ran from the infirmary.
Janet listened to their footsteps as they ran off, she sat down on the bed and massaged her temples, ‘This is going to be so hard to figure out,’ she thought to herself, ‘could it be possible to love both of them?’ Sighing heavily she walked out of the curtain and towards her office, she had some heavy decisions to make while they were gone; she only hoped she could chose the right ones and they all could live with them.
