Title: Gifts

Note: I drafted Daniel for this one but don't worry Janet is in there too!
“Sam…would you explain to me why I’m here again?” Daniel asked as he dodged another hurried shopper.
Sam stopped and waited for him to catch up with her, “Because Janet’s on duty and I needed a voice of reason,” she grinned, “you get to keep me from spending too much.”
“Ahh…well it is Cassie’s first Christmas,” he remarked.
“I know that’s where the temptation comes in. I want to get her some cool things but not spoil her,” his friend replied.
“Well…let’s see what we can find without going overboard,” said Daniel as they braved the aisles of the department store and made their way to the toy section.
Sam immediately found the educational toys and soon had a nice little stack of various things, ranging from chemistry lab sets to learning games, in the cart she pushed.
“Do you really think she needs all these Sam?” asked Daniel, sorting through the cart.
“Well yeah…they will help her catch up with the rest of her classmates,” she replied.
“But are they fun?” he asked then remembered who he was talking to as Sam quirked an eyebrow at him, “okay I take that back…will Cassie find them fun?
Sam thought for a moment then picked through the toys, leaving three, she placed the others back, “Is that better?”
Daniel smiled, “Much…now let’s find some fun games for her.”
Soon they had a nice selection of toys and games in the cart; a grinning Daniel spoke up, ”I think that should be enough Sam, with what Jack and I give her she will be making out like a bandit this Christmas.”
Sam agreed and they began making their way to the checkout. On the way, Sam stopped at a display of stuffed animals and began sorting through them.
“Sam I think she has enough stuffed toys,” Daniel said coming to a stop beside his friend.
“Oh…I’m not looking for Cassie,” she grinned holding up an animal.
Daniel looked at the toy and smiled, “OOOO…that’s perfect.”
The two continued on to the checkout to pay for their finds.
Two days later Janet walked through the infirmary on the way to her office. Sam had just left for an off world mission and would be gone for a few days. She really wished that she could have gone with her partner and Daniel to shop for Cassie’s Christmas presents but duty called and Daniel assured her he had not let Sam spend too much.
Flipping on the light she walked into her office to find a large wrapped object on her desk with a card leaning against it. Picking up the card, she opened it to read….
Hey you…I found this when we were out the other day…every doctor needs an assistant and I think she’s perfect for the job…Love You! Sam.
Janet smiled as she unwrapped the present, soon she uncovered the object within. She held up the large stuffed bear which wore a little scrub suit and surgeon’s hat, it even had a tiny stethoscope around its neck. Embroidered on the pocket was the name Sammie.
She held the bear close to her…”You are just too cute sometimes Samantha Carter, hurry home.” she whispered while hugging the Sammie bear.
