Sam paused at the door to balance the tray of food on one hand and using her other hand, she knocked. Hearing a muffled reply from the other side, she turned the knob and entered the room, then used her foot to close the door as she steadied the tray again. A loud fit of coughing greeted her as she walked towards the bed and she shook her head. "Why aren't you in the infirmary?"

A tousled head poked out from under the blankets. " I dob like the ibfirbary," was the nasal, stopped up reply from Vala.

Sam set the tray on the bedside table and then sat on the edge of the bed. "Oh, come on, you know Janet would make it more comfortable for you, give you a private room with a TV and everything," Sam told her.

Pulling herself up but keeping the covers bundled around her Vala peered at the tray Sam had set down. "Dib you brib be foob?"

"Orange juice, jell-o and ta da...Janet's homemade chicken soup...guaranteed to cure what ails you," Sam replied with a flourish of her hand over the tray.

Vala began to say something but a sneeze came out instead. Sam pulled a tissue out of the box sitting on top of the covers, passed it to the woman who mumbled her thanks before saying, "Where's by gub...I hab to shoot byself."

Sam chuckled. "You're not that sick, it's just the flu; in a few days you'll be fine if you're taking the medicine like you're supposed to."

Vala plopped back onto her pillow and groaned. "I dob hab the ebrgy to eat."

Picking up the bowl of soup Sam spooned a little bit up and held it out towards Vala. "Come on, I'll feed you; you need to eat something or else Janet will force you to come to the infirmary."

Puffing her cheeks and blowing out a disgruntled breath Vala scooted up so that Sam could feed her the spoonful of soup. Grimacing as she swallowed, she kept quiet and ate the soup as Sam spooned up more until the bowl was empty. "See, that wasn't so bad now was it?" Sam asked as she placed the bowl back on the tray and picked up the glass of orange juice, holding it as Vala sipped some through the straw.

"Ib was good," Vala acknowledged after finishing half the glass of juice, "cab I hab the jewo now?"

"Yes, you can," Sam replied and picked up the bowl of red jell-o. She saw Vala make a face and asked, "What? Feeling nauseous?"

"No, I lob the blue," Vala remarked with a small pout.

"Well, I'm sorry but it seems they only make enough for me but I'll let them know you like it too. Now do you not want this?" She told her holding up a spoonful of red jiggly dessert.

With a sigh and nod Vala took the bite of dessert from the spoon, soon the bowl was empty and she lay back in the bed. "You hab a great bebsibe manner," she said, looking up at Sam.

Sam stood up, laughing softly as she replied, "Well, I guess Janet has rubbed off on me over the years…that and trying to get a sick child to eat is not so different then trying to get you to."

Vala stuck her tongue out at the blonde and then sneezed. "Bleh," she muttered, grabbing a tissue.

"Well, I'm off to my lab. I'll come back to check on you before I head home. Are you sure you don't want to go to the infirmary?" Sam asked as she picked up the tray.

"Ib sure," Vala said, motioning for Sam to leave as she snuggled back down under the covers.

"Okay, get some rest then," Sam said, balancing the now lighter tray as she opened the door. "I'll check back later." With that said, she closed the door, leaving Vala to get some much needed rest.

Squirming down under the blankets, Vala smiled and said to herself, "Why go to the ibfibary web I cab get theb to cob to be."

Closing her eyes, the dark-haired woman gave a content sigh as she drifted off to sleep, happy in the fact she was well taken care of even if she wasn't in the infirmary.
